History
A FAMILY BUSINESS
In August of 1993, Tom and Teresa Kincaid opened the doors to their brand new assisted living facility, a vision that began as a sketch on a napkin. Caremoor Retirement Center was built on family land that Teresa’s grandparents, W.L. and Ruth Overcash, originally operated as a dairy farm. Since 1993, the need for safe, reliable care for seniors has increased. To meet these needs and the demand for differing levels of care, Caremoor expanded over the years to include independent living apartments, family care apartments, and a family care home. Having grown into a community of multiple transitional accommodations providing progressive care, Caremoor Retirement Center rebranded in 2019 as Caremoor Retirement Community.
In December 2023, Tom and Teresa Kincaid sold Caremoor Retirement Community (CRC) to Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM) to fulfill their desire for Caremoor to continue its legacy of serving Kannapolis and the surrounding region with compassionate affordable care. CCM brings forty-three years of serving vulnerable populations in Cabarrus and southern Rowan counties to the relationship with the values and support systems to accomplish that goal.
Today Madison Scarborough, the daughter of the founders, provides second-generation leadership to continue the family tradition of Caremoor. Grace Place @ Caremoor will continue to provide a progressive retirement community of safe, reliable and excellent care for senior adults, while leveraging the benefits of nonprofit status to broaden the population who can access independent retirement living.
