In August 1993, Tom and Teresa Kincaid opened Caremoor Retirement Center, born from a simple napkin sketch and built on family land once operated as a dairy farm by Teresa’s grandparents, W.L. and Ruth Overcash. What began as a small assisted living facility grew to meet the increasing demand for senior care, adding independent living apartments, family care apartments, and a family care home. By 2019, Caremoor had evolved into a comprehensive retirement community, offering progressive care for seniors.
In December 2023, the Kincaids sold Caremoor to Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM), ensuring its legacy of compassionate, affordable care would continue. With over 43 years of experience serving vulnerable populations in Cabarrus and southern Rowan counties, CCM shares Caremoor’s commitment to excellence.
Today, under the leadership of Madison Scarborough, the Kincaids’ daughter, Caremoor continues providing safe, reliable care for seniors. With the added benefits of nonprofit status, Grace Place expands access to independent living, ensuring Caremoor’s mission endures for future generations.
